What a fun week of progress! Not only did we get our first version of the goal editor implemented, we also got our first bit of Steam integration in, allowing us to actually run our builds through the system. To top it all off, it’s time for another Friday Showcase to show off to you all.
This week I’d like to show you a little bit of what we have planned for our background editor. TIM 2 introduced a background editor that allowed the placement of assorted clip art and patterns. This let players create all sorts of unique places for their puzzles to exist in. In Contraption Maker, we are making a simple yet powerful art tool that will let you run wild with your contraption locations.
Our art tool lets you create multiple layers (both in front and behind your contraption), and adjust the opacity of them individually. All of the background pieces you place can be scaled and rotated as well. This is all very easy to use, but a lot can be done with it. Static backgrounds are super lame though, so we are also going to be working on an animation tool. The animation tool will allow you to set keyframes for background parts in order to tween their position, rotation, and opacity. Animations will be able to be looped, played once, or played and then reversed. I’m so excited to see all of the different backgrounds that players make for their creations.
If all that background excitement just wasn’t quite enough for you, here is your Friday Showcase video for the week. I have titled this one “Volcano Toast”. Enjoy!
